Where there is more knitting then blogging yet again!

So I haven’t been keeping up with blogging here, so sorry. I have finished a few knits that I mentioned. One being the soysilk lacy diamonds scarf for my ISE 6 pal and the other is the picot mini-monkeys for my monkey sock swap pal. I’m still working on the socks for me and I started something new for myself. I’m knitting the Voyager Lace Stole with Elann’s Pakucho Organic Cotton in the Chocolate colourway. To the left is a closeup of the yarn and it’s the true colour, very yummy!

Yep that’s right I actually going to knit another thing for myself. It seems that most of my knits lately are for others and swap pals! I find I am able to knit for others much more easier than myself so swaps are perfect for me! I joined another round of HP sock kit (HSKS 5)swapping sign ups for returning students started today at midnight and sign up for new students will begin on May 1st. The house are filling up fast and I have decided to take the Inter-House Unity Scholarship that was offered to me and have gone from Ravenclaw to Slytherin. Can’t wait!!

I hoping to start blogging again on a regular basis in the next week or so. Still then stay tuned…

Leaving on a jet plane and where the…

\"Cover of Stephanie Pearl McPhee\'s Knitting Rules!\"H-E-double hockey sticks is my Knitting Rules book!!  So I’m leave today for Ottawa and I haven’t sleep yet, but that’s okay it’s only 1 am here 😀  I have been searching all over my house for my book so I can have something to remind me of the plain socks recipe just in case I need it because I’ve decided that the only real knitting that I’m going to bring is stupid knitting, so plain sock recipe socks it is.  Now I’m sure I know the recipe by heart; however I’m not really good at relaxing before trips and such.  Yep I run around the house in a frenzy trying to find things that I don’t want to forget while exhausted due to lack of sleep and freak out somewhat like this till we leave the house to begin going to whatever destination we are going to.  So back to the Yarn Harlot book, I’m making a mess out the my house (which was just tidied up a bit before we leave to attend a wedding out of province trying to look for said book.  His Tallest tries to help me and then gets frustrated with me being in just a slight panic trying to find it.  I was shocked at the words that came out of his mouth, “Don’t worry it’s only knitting you can find it when we get home to finish the socks, it’s not like you aren’t going to go to the wedding because you can’t bring your knitting.”  I’ve come to the realization that:

  1. my partner is an ignorant muggle despite all my efforts to convert him into at least a non-muggle by living with a Knitter;
  2. and I am officially a crazed normal Knitter with a capital K!

Hope you all have a great week.  I’m not sure if I’ll have a chance to get back to all the comments and e-mails this week, but I will try to catch up on blogs, comments and e-mails once I’m back next Monday!  Happy Knitting 🙂

PS due to the wonderful world of the internet even though I haven’t found my book, I have a copy of the sock recipe with me!  It’s in my Cybook now just.in.case!!

Where I tell you what’s on my needles after a few weeks of silence.

So I’m back!! Since there has been a few weeks between my last post I don’t think I have completed a single item yet. It was all that frogging plus the fact that my e-ink reader (Cybook Gen 3 ) was shipped to us as well. If you check out my reading list page you’ll see that I have finished far more books and that has eaten away a lot of my knitting time. With all that said, onto the fun part what is on my needles. Well after making this post over on the ISE 6 blogI frogged the scarf (I talk about it here). Now I am finished one ball of SWTC Pure (in Cabernet) and have been stalling for a few days due to the fact that I have to start a new ball. I will be taking this project on my Ottawa trip with me in my carry on to work on it on the plane. Picot cuff mini-monkey socks in CP Bamboo blueberries-grapes colourway Next up is my Monkey Sock Swap Four pal’s socks. I am knitting a modified version of Cookie A’s monkey sock pattern. These are mini-monkeys with a picot edge cuff. I will be posting pictures of my provisional cast on for the picot edge with some tips at a later date. I love these socks, they are knit with Crystal Palace Panda Cotton in blueberries-grapes. They are so much fun to knit and I will be knitting a pair for myself as well as mini-me very shortly.

If you look on the FO page I have put one of the secret projects I was knitting on it. My pal from HSKS 4 has received her package and in it was my first fair isle project a HP House Bag, to find out more check out my FO page (FYI not all FO’s for this year have been put on the page yet but I’m not too far behind).

Look what has been resurrected from the dead, my second Sheldon the Turtle!! I finally finished the feet and now I just need to do all the finishing and stuffing. I want to finish this tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about presenting Sheldon the first to one brother and the other brother has to wait for his. The two cute recipients of these lovely cuddly green things live in Ottawa and it’s about time they get their X-mas 2007 presents. I also have to figure out which one will be gifted to which little one and sew their first initial on their turtle. I’m hoping that that will avoid any fighting over who’s turtle is whose beside the fact that I switched the mc and cc for the second turtle.

Oh I also have a few other projects on the needles. Since this is such a long post I’ll just tell you what they are and go into details in the future. Also I’ll add pictures just so you know what the heck I’m talking about 😀

Clapotis (designer Kate Gilbert, pattern found on Knitty) in SWTC Bamboo – Fiery colourway (below)

Aleita Shell (aka My Cloudy Sky Shell) from Interweave Knits, Spring 2008 in Elann Camilla grey colourway

Plus a picture of an FO the dark faerie cowl while it was still a WIP more details later. (Leah you rock I love this yarn!!!) If you want details here’s a Ravelry link sorry folks without Ravelry you’ll have to wait till I post again or till you get your invite. What are you waiting for go and sign up now hurry!!! Also on the needles and doing well is my dragon scale scarf in Handmaiden seasilk and the plain pair of socks in Panda Cotton in seascape that I posted pictures a while back of the first sock, well the second one is coming slowly along. Wow got a lot on my needles right now and many UFOs that will be making a comeback soon, stay tuned!

Strange Times

Strange weather picture -- snow-covered cherry blossoms in March not normal vancouver weather!!
So I actually made it to a meetup today it’s been soo long since the last time I actually talked knitting with knitters. I feels good to know that you aren’t the only one crazy for yarn and such. We briefly talked about how it’s easy to start talking knitting then talk about knitting podcasts and patterns thinking that everyone knows what we are speaking of and that might not be the case. I’m sorry to the person in our group who probably thought some of us were talking crazy talk. The internet brings a whole different feel to getting to know our fellow knitters, yarns, designers etc.. that we feel that we really do get to know others even if they are in another country or we have never met them IRL. I thought about it some more on the way home and I realized that I am so used to talking about my knitting here with other knitters and the fact that I can link either to Ravelry and/or some other url to show you all what the heck I’m talking about that it’s easy to do this when talking to other knitters in person. Sadly this may exclude people who haven’t fond the wonderful world of knitting blogs (too many to mention here — must get my bloglines all sorted out and share the wealth), Ravelry, yarndex or wonderful internet yarn shops and other such places for everything and anything related to knitting (like Elann, Knitpicks, The Loopy Ewe, Jimmy Beans Wool, Kpixie, Sweet Sheep, Etsy and so many more that I could go on for days but I won’t) There is so much information out there to digest that even if you are in “the loop” there are always a trillion or so new things out there. It’s fantastic and scary (especially for our wallets 😉 and credit) I’m so glad to have you all to share things with and learn new things from all of you 😀

With that all sad I’m sorry that it’s taken two whole weeks to put up a new post! It’s been that long already?!! I haven’t had a hiatus like that for a while, I think… His Tallest is off of work for most of April and we leave for Ottawa this Tuesday for a wedding. I can’t wait and wish we would have more time there. I’m taking my laptop and the hotel has free wifi so even if I don’t post or knit check out my flickr site because I should be loading pictures at least!

PS the picture above is of a freak snow that hit us near in March.  This is NOT normal weather for the Vancouver Area.  Rain, hell ya — snow we go visit it on the slopes.  It was really strange to see the snow fall when the cherry blossoms were out.  Strange, yet beautiful.  So I took some pictures and now after a few weeks (sorry again about that I promise knitting content post after this I have a lot to catch you all up on) I’m sharing one with you.
