“Defeat the Winter Doldrums” Dishcloth Swap Weekly Topic #4

” Defeat the Winter Doldrums” for some of us we get the doldrums and others don’t. For the ones who get doldrums what helps you get rid of them? For the ones who don’t get the doldrums, what helps you keep them away?

Well I definitely do get the doldrums (I suffer from SAD). I am highly affected by the winter in a bad way. I’m a spring/summer kinda girl and need my sunshine and warmth. Over the years I’ve found ways to help keep myself sane till the winter is done. I think I’ll play with the bullety thingie today 😉

  • tea, lots of it and very tasty tea. Steeps, one of my favourite tea stores here has a great herbal tea called “Shitty Weather” tea. It’s a perfect pickme up
  • dark chocolate and again lots of it
  • curling up with a great escape book — fluffy fantasy is always great (I’m not a cheesy romance novel kinda gal, unless it’s in a fluffy fantasy–plain old romances bore me)
  • yoga, mediation or tai chi. Believe it or not, exercise or just relaxing thinking about nothing helps tremendously!
  • writing
  • cuddling with a loved one
  • baking (darn those extra pounds due to this one, must do more of that exercising!)
  • and lastly (I saved everyone’s favourite thing last) knitting something with a luxury yarn. Knitting (as well as my bright natural light lamp helps and I use it when I’m knitting) is soothing in itself, but mix that with the softness of soy silk, silk, bamboo or especially sea cell/silk blend and all those good feelings intensify.
